1. Introduction

DreamStream ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application, our website at https://dreamstream.art, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

Dreams are deeply personal. Use of the Services involves processing sensitive dream descriptions, voice recordings, and related content. By using the Services, you consent to this processing as described here.

2. Where This Policy Applies

This policy applies to the App, the DreamStream website, and any features that rely on cloud storage, AI processing, notifications, or analytics. If you access the App through the Apple App Store, Apple's separate terms may also apply.

3. Data We Collect

  • Account Data: Email address, account settings and preferences, and optional profile information you choose to provide.
  • Dream Content: Dream descriptions, voice recordings, transcripts, tags, emotions, symbols, and related metadata.
  • AI Outputs: Generated interpretations, summaries, images, comics, insight visuals, and pattern insights derived from your content.
  • Device & Usage Data: Device model, OS version, app version, IP address, language, time zone, diagnostic or crash logs, and app interaction analytics used to improve the Services.
  • Privacy Preferences: Your choices about optional diagnostics, product analytics, notifications, and other privacy-related settings.
  • Notification Data: Push notification tokens and reminder preferences.
  • Permissions Data: Microphone, photo library, and notification permissions you enable to use specific features.
  • Support Communications: Messages, screenshots, or attachments you send to support.
  • Website Data: If you visit the website, we may collect standard web log data and cookies used for security and analytics.
  • Purchase Metadata: Subscription status and receipt metadata provided by app stores. We do not store payment card details.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide core features such as dream logging, syncing, and journaling.
  • Run AI analysis, interpretations, and visual generation based on your inputs.
  • Personalize your experience, recommendations, and reminder schedules.
  • Deliver push and local notifications you choose to enable.
  • Collect crash reports and product analytics only when you choose to enable optional diagnostics in the App.
  • Provide support, troubleshoot issues, and improve product quality.
  • Secure the Services, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Communicate service updates and important notices.

5. Service Providers & AI Processing

We use third-party service providers to help operate the Services, including hosting and storage, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, and AI processing. These providers process information on our behalf to provide the Services and are required to protect it.

Key providers currently include Supabase for authentication, database, and storage; Google providers for AI-powered analysis and generation features; RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement processing; OneSignal for push notifications; Sentry for crash reporting; and PostHog for product analytics. Some providers process data only if you use a feature that depends on them or, where applicable, if you enable that processing in the App.

When you use AI features, we send the information you provide and relevant context needed to fulfill your request to our AI processing providers and receive outputs back. We take steps designed to protect your data in transit and to limit its use by providers where configurable.

The specific providers we use may change over time.

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers, to comply with legal obligations, to protect users, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition. We may also share information with your consent.

We do not use optional diagnostics or analytics data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or broker your dream content.

We do not operate a public feed or directory of your dream content. Any sharing or exporting is initiated by you using in-app features, your device tools, or third-party services you choose. If we introduce new in-app sharing experiences, we will provide notice and update this policy before launch.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the App settings. We permanently delete or anonymize your data except where retention is required by law.

  • Dream entries, chat conversation data, AI outputs, and profile media are retained until you delete your account.
  • Account data remains active while your account is open.
  • Subscription and purchase metadata is retained as needed for billing support, fraud prevention, accounting, and legal compliance.
  • Optional diagnostics, crash reports, and analytics events may be retained for a limited period and may be aggregated or de-identified.
  • Backups may persist for a limited period after deletion for disaster recovery and security purposes.

8. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • Export your dream journal and account data.
  • Opt out of marketing communications and manage notification settings.
  • Turn optional diagnostics and product analytics on or off at any time in Settings > Privacy & Data.

California (CCPA/CPRA): You may request disclosure or deletion of personal information, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

EU/UK/EEA (GDPR): You have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object, and request portability.

9. International Data Transfers

DreamStream operates globally. Your data may be processed in the United States or other regions where our service providers operate. We use contractual safeguards and encryption to protect transfers.

10. Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. Children's Privacy

DreamStream is not intended for children under 13 or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notice or email. Continued use of the Services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
